Phototherapy — the role of light
Phototherapy simply means using light to influence the body. It isn’t new — it has been studied for around a hundred years, and the idea of using light for health goes all the way back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
Your body naturally gives off heat, including light in the infrared range. LifeWave says the X39 patch is designed to reflect certain wavelengths of that light back toward specific points on the skin. Nothing enters your body — the patch is non-transdermal.
Copper peptides — GHK-Cu
At the centre of X39 is a naturally occurring copper peptide your body already produces, known as GHK-Cu. In the wider scientific literature it’s well established that levels of this peptide are highest when we’re young and decline as we age.
LifeWave says X39 is designed to support your body’s own production of this peptide, using phototherapy. That is LifeWave’s explanation of how the patch is intended to work — useful to understand as you weigh it up.
Stem cells
This is the idea LifeWave is best known for. LifeWave states that, by supporting GHK-Cu, X39 is designed to support the activity of your body’s own stem cells — the cells involved in the body’s natural maintenance and renewal.
